Genesis Bible Study Unveils Christ to Us

Posted on

In the well-know account of His transfiguration, before three of His disciples, Jesus appeared on the mountain, with Moses and Elijah on either side of Him. According to the natural thought, we all might conclude, as Peter did, that the Lord was being placed as one among equals with the great law giver and the great prophet. However, very quickly God made it clear that Jesus, His Son, was the Beloved One, to whom undivided and total attention must be given.

Moses represented the law, and Elijah, the prophets; and the law and the prophets were the constituents of the Old Testament. But God was making it clear that the Old Testament, as represented by these two men, was a full testimony of Christ. As the gospel of John tells us, the search of the Scriptures should lead to Jesus Christ, of whom they testify. (John 5:39)

Later, by way of confirmation that the Old Testament’s focus is Christ, the gospel of Luke tells us how the Lord, “beginning from Moses and from all the prophets…explained…clearly in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.” (Luke 24:27) Later that evening He said to His disciples, “that all the things written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and Psalms concerning Me must be fulfilled.” (Luke 24:44)

Two things resulted from the Lord revealing to His disciples how the Scriptures focused on Him. First, they felt a burning in their hearts at what the Lord had shared with them and how He had opened up the scriptures. (Luke 24:32) Furthermore, the Scriptures were opened up to them and their minds could understand the Word of God (Luke 24:32,45)

This term, the Christians on Campus club is pleased to announce that the weekly Bible Study will focus on 10 key people in the book of Genesis. From Adam to Joseph, we will have the opportunity to get a bird’s eye view of this seminal first book of the Bible. But ever mindful of God’s admonition in the gospel of Matthew and the Lord’s revelation of Himself in the gospels of John and Luke, our study in the book of Genesis, will endeavour to uncover the Christ revealed in the sacred writings of the Law and the Prophets. We are trusting the Lord to open the Word to us and cause our minds to understand.

Join us, won’t you, as we study the lives of ten individuals in Genesis while unveiling this unsearchable rich Christ .

Christians on UW Campus

2009 Fall College Retreat

We are a group of Christians on the UW campus discovering and experiencing the truths in the Bible. We also like to share the good news of God's full salvation with fellow students.

We warmly welcome all believers in Christ and seek to maintain the oneness of the Spirit by keeping our focus on Christ. He is so rich! He is so full! He is everything to us!

We are also open to non-Christians who want to learn about becoming a Christian and to learn about club activities.
